When you start to feel an illness coming on there are several different remedies you can try to hasten your recovery.  Begin as soon as possible to have quicker results.

  • When the cold first comes on- take note of your detox pathways (urinating, defecating, and sweating) Which one seems sluggish? Address this and the mucus may stop building up.
  • Healing and relaxing baths- mustard bath, clay, Epson salts or magnesium flakes
  • Drink plenty of fluids- Aim to drink at least half of your body weight in water, if you have a fever, you may need additional fluid. Dehydration make all symptoms worse
  • Eat healthy foods- lots of fruits, vegetable onions, garlic and soup broths. These are easy to digest and high in nutrients. Avoid dairy and wheat products
    • No sugar, no alcohol, no processed foods

 

Treating the sinuses themselves

  • Steam inhalation 5-6 times a day with lavender and thyme for pain, eucalyptus, peppermint and pine ( relieving blockages and stuffiness) tea tree is a powerful antiseptic.
  • Sinus washes with colloidal silver or a few drops of oil of oregano several times a day
  • Xylitol sinus sprays
  • Apple cider vinegar and water ½ to 1 tsp in warm water snorted or squirted into the sinuses

Supplements

 

  • Capsicum will thin the secretions 1-2 a day
  • ALJ 2-4 capsules 3-4 times a day soothes irritated tissues
  • VSC supports the immune system 4 capsules 2-4 times a day

Other Home treatments

 

  • Black Pepper
    1. Black pepper is antimicrobial, which means that it can destroy all types of infections.
    2. It can also prevent the excessive production of mucus and it helps tin the accumulated mucus, so it can run down the throat.
    3. It detoxifies the body and keeps t free from infections.
      1. Recipe: crush 6 peppercorns coarsely- heat 1 tablespoon of ghee and roast the crush peppercorns in it for 1 minute.  Cool and eat

 

 

  • Garlic
    1. It has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties
    2. It helps to dislodge the accumulated mucus and prevents excessive formation
      1. Recipe: roughly chop 4 cloves of garlic- let it sit for 1-2 minutes (very important), place in 1 tablespoon of ghee and roast the garlic in it for a minute- cool and swallow the mixture twice a day.
  • Onion
    1. Helps the phlegm to be easily expelled from the body
      1. Chop onion and graded ginger and place over low heat for 2-3 minutes. Take off the heat and add honey.  Let sit for 10 minutes.  Eat 3 times a day
  • Ginger
    1. It reduces the phlegm and aids in its expulsion,
    2. It sooths the throat and eliminates hoarseness
      1. Grade a large piece of ginger and boil in a cup of water. Boil for 3 minutes then strain and add a tablespoon of honey.  Drink 3 times a day
  • Onion
    1. Helps the phlegm to be easily expelled from the body
